I am an active duty military single mom who is brilliant when it comes to serving others and my country, but have not done so well with handling my finances. My biggest mistake was putting my trust in a financial agency, who promised to help me get a loan modification. I allowed them to put my home in liquidation, took their advice to stop paying my mortgage and used the money to put towards my debt, for that was what people did while their home was in liquidation.
Well, upon return from deployment in the Middle East I found out that my home was in foreclosure, and the company did not find the time to send me the memo. Imagine serving your country and losing your home at the same time? On top of dealing with difficult renters within the home, and receiving less pay because the military relocated me, I was distraught and financially strapped for cash and watched my savings dwindle down to zero.
Sorry to say, but there are thousands of military people like me who have experienced this, and it is a hard pill to swallow.
Well I’m one of the lucky ones for I managed to get the bank to allow me to short sale the home, and that experience was the catalyst for this blog. I promised myself while selling that home that I was never going to be in a similar position and would become financially fit for life. I had no idea that just using this platform to keep myself accountable would turn into a future career in freelancing and help me find my true and better self. Yes…people I’m also having a great time.
So welcome to my blog and be inspired for we all deserve to live our best life.….Enjoy!
